Everything Happens for a Reason
A long time ago, there was family who was living in the countryside and their only means of livelihood is farming. They own only one horse that helped them plough the fields. One morning, when they woke up, they found out that the horse was missing and so their neighbors condoned with them saying “How unlucky you are, the only horse that you have is gone”. The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.
After a week, the horse returned taking along with it seven (7) sturdy horses. And their neighbors came again and said. “You’re lucky, your horse came back not alone but plus 7 more of its kind”. The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.
With the new sturdy horses, one day, the only son of this family was tempted to take a ride on one of them. Since the young man was not used to horseback riding, he lost control, fell down and broke his legs. Their neighbors came again saying “You are in bad luck because your only son who is helping you in the farm was heavily injured”. The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.
Then, war broke out in the country and all young men were ordered and summoned by the government to report to the military camps to undergo training so that they could be sent to war to defend their country. The young man was spared in becoming a combat soldier because of his injury and physical condition. Their neighbors came again and said “You’re lucky because your only son is safe with you, unlike us, we don’t know if we will still see our sons alive”. The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.
Everything happens for a reason and purpose. Let us not fix our gaze on the problem but focus more on the lessons being unveiled or taught by a particular event in our life for there might be an underlying opportunity waiting to be explored…
