Sometimes, the stumbling block to the realization of our dreams and goals in life are our fears.  So if we want to turn our dreams into reality, we must take courage to defeat fear.

Have you given up your dreams because of fear? However, it does not mean that if we are courageous, we are fearless.

Fear is not always considered negative, it has also a positive aspect.  Fear can save us from danger because we learn to be more cautious, alert, and pro-active when we feel fear. Anne is afraid of water because of her childhood experience of almost drowning.  Because of that, whenever she would be forced to take a boat ride, she would always bring and wear a life vest.  One day, when the boat she was riding on capsized, she was saved because of her life vest.

But we must be careful with fear because it will not only take us away from danger, just like what happened to Anne, but it will also take us away from fulfilling our dreams.  Some people are being haunted by fear and anxiety because they want to control their life due to fear of experiencing again the same pains and heartaches that they underwent in the past. When fear dominates and controls us, we are frozen, we remain stagnant, and we lose the chance to grow.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but it is DOING THE RIGHT THING AMIDST FEAR.  We must try to overcome fear and learn to move on and believe that something greater is in store for us.  Let determination and commitment propel us and enable us to surpass our fear, so that we can enter the door of available opportunities and in the end, achieve our dreams.

Every success happens because of determination and commitment.  Tomas Alva Edison is a known inventor who developed important devices such as phonograph, motion picture camera, and electric light bulb.  But looking back, Tomas Edison did not learn to talk until he was almost four years of age.  Due to his being too inquisitive at a young age, his upset teacher told him that he was “too stupid to learn anything” such that his mother temporarily withdrew him from attending formal school and personally continue his education through home schooling.  He was even fired from his first two jobs and made thousand unsuccessful experiments.  Despite all these failures, however, he continue to pursue his dream. With his strong drive and commitment to accomplish his goals, those unsuccessful attempts finally resulted to a design that worked and made him one of the famous American inventors of significant devices that greatly improved and influenced life in the world.

It is always commitment and determination that will make us achieve our dreams.  It is the ability to keep on going and trying in the midst of our fears, failures, discouragement, obstacles, and difficulties.

It is not yet too late to pursue such dream again.

Do we want physical well being? We need to be determined and committed to eating healthy food such as fruits and vegetables.  We need to be committed to a healthy lifestyle and regularly engaging in physical fitness activities.  We need to be committed to avoid and let go of stress and unnecessary worries.

Do we want a united family?  We need to be determined and committed to spending quality time together with our spouse.  We need to be committed to communicating and expressing love regularly, accepting our partner for what he/she is, and always forgiving one another.

Do we want financial success? We need to be determined and committed to increasing our financial intelligence.  We cannot afford to work haphazardly.  We need to work hard and give our best shot.  We need to be committed to keep watch of our spending habits.  We need to be committed to continuous learning and discovering investment opportunities and business ventures.

Fear is useless, what is needed is BELIEF in ourselves and COMMITMENT to achieve our dreams, coupled with TRUST in Divine Providence.

Happiness is a by-product of right thinking and well-balanced life. The happiest people don’t have the best of everything but they just make the best of everything.

Live simply so that others may simply live. We have the right to enjoy the blessings we possessed but we should temper our desires and wants.  Make simplicity the keynote of our daily plans by setting our priorities right and giving importance to what are most essential to us. Do not clutter our life with so many pre-occupations. Simple things are best because it will not complicate our life; hence, it is easy for us to appreciate what we have and be happy.

Think positive, constructive, and always hopeful that better things are yet to come.  Store useful thoughts and endeavor to learn new things.  Positive thought is a catalyst of good feelings and attract positive experiences.  We will feel better if we are optimistic because it will not only give us a brighter outlook but will also give us the opportunity to bring about good results.

Cultivate a yielding disposition. Resist the common tendency to want our own way always.  Listen to other people’s viewpoint because there’s no monopoly of knowledge in this world even how intelligent and wise we think we are for learning is a continuing process.

Develop a mental attitude of peace and goodwill by mustering our moods and temper.  Live in peace with situations and events that we cannot control and change.  This will free us from stress. The only way to achieve peace in this world is for all to start having peace within ourselves.

Give generously.  There is no greater joy in life than to give and share happiness to others by means of intelligent giving.  We reap what we sow, if we make others happy, it will always go back to us.

Work with right motives.  The highest purpose of our life should be to grow in spiritual grace and power.  We should mellow through the years, achieving maturity and desirable character and disposition by age or experience.

Live one day at a time.  Concentrate on our immediate task.  Appreciate each moment and live in the present for yesterday is already past and tomorrow has yet to come.  Make the most of today so we have time to enjoy where we are.

Have a productive hobby such as studying nature, walking, gardening, listening to music or singing, playing or watching our favorite sports, sketching or painting, enrolling in voice lessons or public speaking, learning new language, playing or watching our favorite game, reading books, indulging in photography, getting involve in social service, travelling to interesting and beautiful places, writing a book, etc.  Turn such favorite hobby as a diversion and relaxation.

Last but not least, always pray and keep close to God, for a week without prayer makes us weak.

When we were born, we were crying.  When we leave this world, will everyone cry because our departure would be considered a great loss to society?

I find it very easy to like and love the kindest and most humble people?  Have you observed that those who are usually kind and humble are people who acknowledge and accept that they’re not perfect? These are people who give deep respect to others regardless of their dark past and stature in life.  These are people who are not self-righteous and do not have spiritual pride.

Unless we accept that we, too, are imperfect, we will find it difficult to accept the imperfection of other people.  We will always have the tendency to judge, condemn, look down, and be irritated by the weaknesses and limitations of others.

In our world today, there are many wounded people around us.  Let us try to open our eyes and be sensitive to their needs, feel and share with their pain, and empathize with them.

However, showing kindness in not that easy because we have to put others ahead of our own self --- we have to get out of our way, welcome interruption in our routine, and go out of our comfort zone to be able to show kindness.  When we are kind to others, it may appear that we are a loser.  We will lose our valuable time.  We will lose money.  We will lose our convenience. We will lose our agenda.

But let our gratitude be the foundation of being good and kind to others. We only pass this world once so, whatever good that we can contribute, let us endeavor to do.  According to the degree that we give, serve, and help, we will experience the by-product of happiness.

How do we want to be known then?
    Kind?
    Compassionate?
    Humble?
    Gentle?
    Patient?
    Peace Maker?
    Loving?
    Generous?

The world needs someone as awesome and wonderful as you are.  The world is longing for heroes, role models, source of inspiration and hope, advocates of true justice, beacons of noble generosity, sowers of peace, and bringers of love.  Take your place.  Live your life to the fullest with a glorious legacy.

Our tongue is the smallest part of the body but it can also be the deadliest because the words that come out of it can either bring blessing or curse, joy or sorrow, encouragement or desperation, praise or insult, life or death.

Realizing this, one of the things that we must guard and try to control are the words that we utter.  Where words are many, sin is not wanting; but he who restrains his lips does well (Proverbs 10:19).  To keep silent is nobler than to speak if we will only utter lies and harsh words that will crush the spirit of a person.  The ability to keep silent, if the situation requires, is really a big challenge!  Whoever loves life must keep the tongue from evil and the lips from speaking deceit and words that sow division, discord, and depression among other people.  The lesser we talk, the lesser is the chance to commit mistakes and sin.

Another important part of speech is the tone and manner of how we deliver and utter what we have to say.  Along with choosing the right words, how we deliver these words are also equally relevant to watch out.  Speaking gently, humbly, and in moderate and right tone can put off anger and conquer pride while shouting, being combative and wild will bring disagreement, division, and conflict.

Finally, right timing should also be considered when we want to speak our minds.  There must be a right balance between remaining to be silent when our advice is uncalled for and having the boldness to speak the truth at the right place and at the right time.

If we are able to control the words as well as the manner and timing of our speech, then we can truly say that we have gainfully matured as an individual.

Everything Happens for a Reason

A long time ago, there was family who was living in the countryside and their only means of livelihood is farming.  They own only one horse that helped them plough the fields.  One morning, when they woke up, they found out that the horse was missing and so their neighbors condoned with them saying “How unlucky you are, the only horse that you have is gone”.  The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.

After a week, the horse returned taking along with it seven (7) sturdy horses.  And their neighbors came again and said.  “You’re lucky, your horse came back not alone but plus 7 more of its kind”.  The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.

With the new sturdy horses, one day, the only son of this family was tempted to take a ride on one of them.  Since the young man was not used to horseback riding, he lost control, fell down and broke his legs.  Their neighbors came again saying “You are in bad luck because your only son who is helping you in the farm was heavily injured”.   The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.

Then, war broke out in the country and all young men were ordered and summoned by the government to report to the military camps to undergo training so that they could be sent to war to defend their country.  The young man was spared in becoming a combat soldier because of his injury and physical condition.  Their neighbors came again and said “You’re lucky because your only son is safe with you, unlike us, we don’t know if we will still see our sons alive”.   The father of the house replied “Good luck or bad luck, nobody knows”.

Everything happens for a reason and purpose.   Let us not fix our gaze on the problem but focus more on the lessons being unveiled or taught by a particular event in our life for there might be an underlying opportunity waiting to be explored…

Are we giving due care to our heart?

We are naturally anxious of the physical well-being of the body.  We feed our body with food at least three times a day, take regular bath, indulge in physical fitness activities, consult our doctor not only to be in good health but also to look younger and flawless, pamper it at the spa and saloon, take a break for relaxation, etc.  All these things we do and many more just to maintain our body in good shape and condition.

Are our body needs right attention and care, so do our heart being the center of the body.  We cannot avoid situations and circumstances wherein we will be hurt and get offended by other people, either intentionally or unknowingly through unkind and tactless words or through impulsive actions.

There are times that we find it difficult to rid ourselves of these hurts each day especially those that gave us deep emotional pains; hence, these are accumulated day after day until they are piled up for months and even years.  Unless we forgive completely, these  grudges that are continuously kept in our heart being the one connected with emotion, will eventually become anger, resentment, bitterness, and hatred.  According to Dr. Bradley Nelson and I quote: “Hanging onto emotions blocks energy, holding it back like a dam, cutting off organs from the healthy flow of vital energy they need. Emotions that stay trapped in our body can make us sick and cause tremendous physical pain.”

We need to unburden our heart and we can do this by learning to forgive.  Forgiveness, however, does not mean that we are condoning the wrong that was done to us but it is more of setting ourselves free so, we do not remain in captivity of a heavy and wounded heart.  We shall be doing a big favour to ourselves if we let go of past heartaches since this will enable us to move forward swiftly and go on well in life.  Let us then choose to cleanse our hearts and obtain peace through the power of forgiveness.

Life is short, so let us forgive quickly.  We are aware that this is not easy to do, but if we need some help, we have a God who is always waiting for us to call on Him.

As the world is continuously in a quest for advancement, the contentment bar is also tremendously increasing.  With every new inventions and discoveries, we seem to clamor for more and more material things to be satisfied.

No matter how much we accumulate, it seems we never have enough.  As we increase our possessions, our wants correspondingly rise up. More often than not, after undertaking every endeavor and acquisition, we end up vaguely discontented and unhappy because of  dissatisfaction.   Suffering is defined as the difference between the expectation and the reality.  So when we don’t get what we expect, we suffer.

Apostle Paul presented a good definition of contentment as he said, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content… Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry … I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:11-13).

Being contented is complimentary with being a good steward of our wealth and resources.  If we have contentment, we will not be attached and be ruled by money.   Money per se is not bad.  It is the love of money that brings evil because it leads to greed and eventually to the vulnerability of a person to commit grievous offenses or sins just for the sake of possessing money.  If we don’t care anymore about the means of how we obtain wealth even through dishonest means or even at the expense of other people, it is a sign that we have become too obsessed with accumulating worldly riches; therefore, perhaps we haven’t found contentment.

Being contented will also give us the right perspective and disposition on how to make use of the resources we have to harness our life to its full potential.   If more wealthy people would use their resources to reach out to the needy and the less fortunate, such generous gesture can really contribute in alleviating misery and poverty in this world.

As 19th century author Maltbie Babecock said, “Contentment … is the grateful, faithful, and fruitful use of what we have, little or much”.

I remember that during my teenage years, we used to pass around a scrapbook and one of the favorite questions there is to define “love”.  Some of the definitions are love is blind, love makes the world go round, love conquers all, love gives joy to the heart, etc.

While in the Book of Life, love is defined as:  “Love is patient, love is kind.  It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.  It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

The foregoing verses remind us to go beyond love that is merely felt to a love that knows no boundary or simply put, an unconditional love.  It is easy to love our family, friends, the people who are good to us, and those who loved us in return.  But it is quite hard to show love to the unlovable or those we perceived as difficult or a person we consider as tribulator or persecutor or worst as an enemy.  However, it is unconditional love that will lead us to decide to act always with patience and gentleness and bearing with one another's shortcomings and failures to be able to preserve the unity amongst us.

The famous Mother Theresa of Calcutta is a good example of a person who showed to the world the real meaning of selfless love in action.  And I would end this article by listing some of her quotations on love, which I hope would give inspiration to all of us:

“There is more hunger in the world for love and appreciation than for bread”.

“Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary.  What we need is to love without getting tired”.

“In this life, we cannot do great things.  We can only do small things with great love”.

As I woke up this morning, as a mother, I’m always in a hurry to start doing my tasks hoping that I could finish everything before midnight. I have many responsibilities to fulfill.  But wait, I can choose what kind of day I’m going to have…

Today, I can whine because I have to work hard to provide for my family or I can shout for joy because I don't belong to the unemployed.

Today, I can be sad for having known very few people or I can excitedly begin upon a quest to discover new friendships.

Today, I can murmur because I have to do household work or I can be at peace because I have a home where my mind, body, and soul can rest and enjoy every moment with my family.

Today, I can get bored because I have to study and read a lot of materials or I can readily open my mind and feed it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today, I can lose my temper that I am caught in heavy traffic due to a road accident or I can be thankful that I was not involved and was spared.

Today, I can be irritable with my heavy eyeglasses or I can be grateful that I have two eyes that enable me to clearly see the beauty of creation.

Today, I can complain because it's raining hard or I can be happy that my garden is getting watered for free and this would bring about bountiful harvest.

Today, I can be sad and envious of people who have good singing voices (because I am fond of music) or I can rejoice that I can express myself.

Today, I can blame myself that I'm still imperfect or I can appreciate that everyday, the Sculptor is slowly shaping me up to become a better person.

What today will be like is up to me.  I CAN CHOOSE what kind of day I will have!

Usana Nutritional Products

Hi! I’m happy to share how USANA changed my life and my family as well.

When USANA was introduced to me, I did not hesitate to use its products because it has been my belief that taking vitamins and antioxidants is necessary to maintain good health aside of course from eating a balanced diet. For the past years, I’ve been taking multi-vitamins, B-complex, vitamin E, vitamin C, and Fish Oil.

I replaced my multi-vitamins with USANA Essentials since I was impressed with its complete formulation and its being the flagship product of USANA as a top-rated supplement in the world. I stopped taking B-complex since Essentials already contain six (6) B vitamins (i.e. B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, and B12). Essentials gave me extra stamina due to sound sleep, I am energized at the beginning of the day with the complete and balanced formulation of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants it provides. I do not experience anymore difficulty and irregular bowel movement.

Instead of separate vitamins for vitamin E and vitamin C, I took USANA Proflavanol C (Prof C) because it is a combination of grape seed extract and poly C, which are both powerful antioxidants. What convinced me was that Prof C is 50 times more potent than vitamin E and 20 times more potent than vitamin C. It enhanced my immune system so I do not catch severe colds and cough as often before due to sudden change in extreme weather conditions. My doctor prescribed simvastatin to lower my cholesterol level but after taking the said medicine for a month, my cholesterol level did not decrease so I stopped my medication. It’s good I’ve found Prof C. My cholesterol level has declined after few months of taking Prof C and has now reached normal level.

I replaced my Fish Oil with BiOmega since the latter is produced from deep-sea fish oil and I am assured that it is free from contaminants and it contains concentrated dose of omega-3. I don’t want to have alzheimer since I saw how my mother suffered because of the said disease.

I added Active Calcium since I was beginning to feel joint pains when climbing up the stairs. I was afraid to take Calcium before since it can develop into kidney stones according to my doctor so I was happy that USANA’s Active Calcium will not form into stones and it has activated form of Vitamin D for better absorption of Calcium in the body. I’ve also known that women are proned to osteoporosis since Calcium are being discharged during their monthly period so Calcium supplementation is necessary. I can now climb up the stairs without difficulty.

On the overall, USANA products helped me achieved the level of health that I need. I am also thankful that it has helped my family as well. My husband was able to manage his being overweight by taking using USANA Nutrimeal. Essentials and Prof C contributed to the fast recovery of my son from pneumonia without being confined in the hospital and the frequent asthma attacks of my other son has tremendously decreased.

USANA can also enhance your life in many ways. It’s not just about top-rated health products but it is also about a lucrative business opportunity for those who are looking for extra income.
